What area does RITE cover?

We are the only TeachFirst accredited SCITT provider in the Humber region. Riverview schools are based in Barton, which is on the corner of four local authorities - Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire. SCITT students can train in their local school anywhere in these regions, as long as that school is happy to work with us as the TeachFirst SCITT provider.

You may know TeachFirst as an organisation that only works with schools in the most disadvantaged areas of the country but this is not the case for the SCITT scheme - all schools are eligible for SCITT students.

Training with RITE and Riverview

The Riverview Family of Schools, of which RITE is one component, contains primary, secondary and alternative provision schools for children from 3-16. We also have close links with Wyke and Franklin Colleges, both of whom have excellent regional reputations for post-16 success. We have all of the settings needed to provide SCITT trainees with a broad and varied teacher training experience.

Riverview has been working with TeachFirst for many years and have an enviable reputation of retaining every trainee in the teaching profession. 75% of our trainees have already started their leadership journey by the time they have completed their teacher training.

Baysgarth School is the hub of Riverview and RITE. We are an oversubscribed 11-16 community school which has achieved outstanding results for nine years running and is considered as one of the top schools in the Humber region. We have increased in size from 700 to 1,000 students in less than a decade and reside in brand new buildings with the latest technology for all of our teachers in their classrooms. We have plans for further expansion to allow up to 1,200 students to enjoy our high quality teaching and learning.

Riverview is not afraid to take risks and we have an innovative curriculum that is based on the firm foundations of our own Learning Model. Trainees benefit from superb induction, bespoke CPD and high quality mentoring from experienced, high quality teachers and leaders.
