Riverview Federation is already firmly established as leading the way for inclusive practice with highly successful provisions such as our Discover Groups, Attendance Hub and Headway. Provisions that understand the needs of every child and ensure they thrive in the right environment.
Riverview believes every child should have access to the right provision and support and, as such, we have opened a Specialist Resource Provision for autistic children, which will eventually cater for children from Year 1 through to Post-16. This project is being led by Dr Rice-Adams, with the support of the Local Authority.
The first phase of this plan was the opening of a KS1 provision on the site of Castledyke Primary School in the Summer term of 2025. With a staged expansion programme planned for subsequent years. The post we are currently advertising will be based at this KS1 provision.
All our provisions are successful because of the outstanding staff team, who are committed to working with young people with additional needs and have the expertise, skills and knowledge to really make a difference. We know that getting the right people makes all the difference for children and their families.
Therefore, we are seeking a teaching assistant with a passion and commitment to working with autistic children, who will work as a key member of the SRP KS1 team. The role will focus on supporting autistic pupils to make progress in their personalised outcomes, aiming for these pupils to access mainstream schooling, when appropriate. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of supporting children with additional needs, particularly autism, and will be able to adapt their practice appropriately to meet a range of cognition and learning, social and emotional, and communication and interaction needs. Experience in the delivery of phonics, and speech and language intervention, would further support this role.
The successful candidate should be ambitious for themselves as well as for our children and be committed to developing their SEN knowledge, undertaking a bespoke training programme, which will be on offer for the successful candidate. As the provision grows there will also be opportunities for career progression for the right candidate.
Riverview is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.
If you are inspired by the challenge of this opportunity, we would like to hear from you. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the post, please feel free to contact the lead for the Specialist Resource Provision and Strategic SENCO for Riverview, Dr Emma Rice-Adams emma.rice@baysgarthschool.co.uk
