Year 10 student, Kiera Dobbing, and Year 8 student, Caitlin, took part in the 'Girl Beats Code' competition over the summer, whereby they had to code and create a website entirely from scratch.  The competition was open to students in Year 7 to 11 across the country, and there were around 400 participants.

Kiera and Caitlin used the platform 'Trinket', which neither student had ever used before, to code a unique website on a topic of their choice.

Mr Smy, ICT Teacher, told students about the competition and encouraged them to take part to stretch their knowledge, enhance their computing skills, and have a little fun!

Kiera explained that the build of her website, based around Bletchley Park, took around five days in total.  Participants had access to an online Hub where they shared thoughts and tips on how to execute the coding.  Kiera chose Bletchley Park for the website as she had visited Milton Keynes and the park with her family over the summer.  Having never done anything like coding a website before, Kiera is (rightly so) very proud of what she created and would recommend the challenge to anyone who is interested in furthering their own ICT skills whilst having fun and speaking to new people.

Websites are in the public domain and you can access Kiera's using the link below:

A massive well done to Kiera and Caitlin!
