One Punch
Baysgarth welcomed Paul from P.A.U.L for Brain Recovery to speak with students...
Paul spoke to Year 9 students and the Headway cohort about the devastating impact that one punch can have on someone else's life. In 2012, Paul was punched by a stranger during a family night out resulting in a serious brain injury and months of recovery and rehabilitation back to a new normal.
Paul has turned this horrific experience into something positive and has since completed marathons, shared his story in 'Men's Health' magazine, raised huge amounts of money for neurosurgical ward 4/40 in Hull and established P.A.U.L. for Brain Recovery in 2016. The charity supports brain injury survivors and their families to give a chance for a better future and enable them to live their best lives.
Paul has not let his injuries define him and uses his story to educate young people and adults of the significant and permanent impact one moment can have on someone's life.
Paul gave students a very honest and open account of his experience and the trauma he and his family endured through his recovery. After the talk, some Headway students have decided that they would like to try and raise some money for the charity, which just shows the impact the talk had.
Paul has spoken to Baysgarth students in the past and every time, his words have a positive and significant impact on them - thank you once again!
