Over the past few weeks, Get Ahead have invited Castledyke children to a variety of different sporting events...

Some of the most important lessons and experiences happen outside the classroom.  With the outstanding support offered by the Get Ahead Team, Castledyke children have had many opportunities to take part in an array of activities, challenges and trips, beyond those already available at at the school.

Recently, the Get Ahead Team hosted a small group of Year 5 Castledyke students at Baysgarth School for a Football session. Making the most of having the 3G pitches to themselves, students honed their skills and received one-to-one support at what was a fantastic day for everyone!

Key Stage 1 and 2 took part in an Orienteering Day, focusing on developing map reading skills, team work, decision making and environmental awareness.

Year 4 also took part in a Golfway Festival hosted at Baysgarth School, where they learnt how to putt and got to try out their new skills on the green.

Finally, three Year 6 children visited the Etihad Stadium, the home of Manchester City Football Club.  Students were granted behind the scenes access to the stadium, had a grand tour, learnt all about the history of the club and even got to meet one of the players!  A very memorable experience for everyone.
