At Baysgarth School, we are committed to preparing our students to become confident, responsible and active citizens who make a positive contribution to modern British society. The fundamental British Values of Democracy, the Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs are embedded throughout our curriculum, school culture and wider opportunities.

These principles are closely aligned with our own school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, which underpin everything we do.

Through Respect, we celebrate diversity, value different perspectives and recognise the rights of others.

Through Responsibility, we encourage students to understand their role within our school and wider community, make informed choices and contribute positively to society.

Through Resilience, we empower students to embrace challenges, stand up for what is right and develop the confidence to navigate an ever-changing world.

How we promote British Values at Baysgarth

We demonstrate British values through our everyday actions and conduct. We promote democracy by encouraging student voice, leadership and participation in decision-making. We uphold the rule of law through clear expectations, shared responsibilities and an understanding of consequences. We champion individual liberty by empowering students to make informed choices, express themselves and explore their interests. Through mutual respect and tolerance, we celebrate diversity, challenge prejudice and foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, listened to and supported.

Together, these values help us develop responsible, respectful and confident young people who are equipped to make a positive contribution to both our school and wider society.

We also use our collective reading programme to develop students’ social capital and to reinforce British values.

Together, our school values and British Values help create an inclusive community where every student feels valued, understands their rights and responsibilities, and is equipped with the character and confidence to thrive both within and beyond Baysgarth.
