At Baysgarth, we believe that nutritious, tasty food is essential for students  to stay energised and focused throughout the day.

Our In-House Catering Team

Unlike many schools that outsource their meals, all of our catering is now provided by our own dedicated in-house team. This allows us complete control over the quality, freshness, and sourcing of our ingredients. Every meal is cooked fresh in our school kitchen, ensuring high standards of nutrition and taste.

Student-Led Menus & Food Standards

We work in close partnership with our School Council to design our menus. We regularly consult with students to gather their feedback and this collaborative approach ensures a good choice of options for our students and staff, which are popular and that also provides a balance of nutrients.

Allergies & Dietary Requirements

We are committed to providing safe, inclusive dining for every child. Our catering team creates specific allergen and dietary menus tailored to students with food allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary choices (such as vegetarian, vegan, or halal). If your child has special dietary needs, please notify the school office so we can put a personalised meal plan in place.

Free School Meals Eligibility

We encourage all eligible families to apply for Free School Meals, as registering not only provides your child with a healthy daily lunch but also unlocks vital additional funding (Pupil Premium) for the school to support your child's learning.

Receiving this funding for lunches means that your child gets an automatic credit to their account daily which ensures they access their lunch just like everyone else and they pay for it using their lanyard, just like their peers. 

Income-Based Free School Meals

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if  you (parents or carers) receive any of the following qualifying benefits:

• Universal Credit
• Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income below the standard threshold)
• Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

There are 2 eligibility types for free school meals (FSM)

Targeted FSM - Households in receipt of Universal Credit with net earnings of £7,400 or less per year (or receiving other qualifying benefits like Income Support or Pension Credit). 

Expanded FSM - Households receiving Universal Credit with net earnings above £7,400 per year. 

How to Apply

Applying is quick, confidential, and straightforward. You can apply online via the local authority portal.
