The curriculum at Baysgarth is designed to achieve our mission of ensuring every child at our school is successful. We want to ensure that every student leaves our school finding their passion and interest, uncovering their hidden talents.

Students choose their options courses in Year 8. In Year 9, before our students start their GCSE courses, they complete the Gateway curriculum in their option subjects. This curriculum is designed to celebrate the best of the subject, sparking interest and curiosity, leading to a love of the subject. It is underpinned by employability skills ensuring that the students are able to experience how their studies can lead into the world of work. Key Stage 4
At KS4 the curriculum includes fewer compulsory subjects, in order to give students a more personalised learning experience. This gives them the flexibility to follow courses which match their interests, abilities, preferred learning styles and career aspirations. We are proud to have such breadth to our KS4 curriculum, ensuring that there is a pathway for everyone.
The core curriculum comprises:
- GCSE English Literature and GCSE English Language
- GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Statistics
- GCSE Science (Trilogy which is equivalent to 2 GCSEs or the Triple course which is equivalent to 3 GCSEs)
- Physical Education
- Identity, Culture and Ethics (PSHE, Citizenship and RE)
