Students can apply to Baysgarth School via two different routes depending on circumstances:

Admission to Year 7

If you wish to apply for a place for your child to start secondary school in September in Year 7, you will need to apply through the Local Authority, even if you want a place for your child at a school in another Local Authority's area. Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 31st October via the Citizen Portal here

Places are allocated in line with the North Lincolnshire Council's coordinated Admission Scheme and applications are prioritised as follows:

  • Children who are looked after by a Local Authority and children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order.
  • Children who live in the school's designated catchment area.
  • Children who have a sibling attending the school at the time of their admission.
  • Children who live closest to the school.

Our normal school admissions arrangements apply when a child is transferring from primary school to secondary education at the end of Year 6. Please visit the North Lincolnshire Council website for more specific information on how to apply.

In-Year Transfers

Our in-year admission arrangements apply when a child is already attending another secondary school and parents want to move their child to Baysgarth, for example, following a house move.

If you want to make an in year application you will need to apply through the Local Authority. More information is available on the North Lincolnshire Council's website, and for those parents living within North Lincolnshire, the council will ask you to complete and submit an In Year Application Form. Applications should be submitted to North Lincolnshire Council's Admission Team.

We will then be informed of your application. Once we have details, we will issue a letter to families requesting the following information from their child's current school:

Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4
Attendance Certificate Attendance Certificate
Behaviour Log Behaviour Log
Most recent Academic Report Most recent Academic Report
Current Option Subjects & Exam Boards

Once this information has been collected, a meeting will be arranged between the parents/carers, the prospective student and a member of Baysgarth School’s leadership team. The purpose of this meeting is to allow the school to gather all necessary information to support the prospective student and ensure a successful transition to our school.

An initial meeting and tour of the school will then be arranged once all information has been collated and received.

Admission Appeals

If your child is refused a place at Baysgarth, either in the normal intake or as an in year application, you will have the right of appeal. Appeals are administered by North Lincolnshire Council. More information can be found on the Council's website
