ENHANCED PROVISIONS LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Grade 4 £19,391 to £20,658 per year

Full Time – 32 hours 45 minutes per week

Term Time plus Five Additional Days (195 per annum)

To commence September 2026

Riverview Federation is already firmly established as leading the way for inclusive practice. We have highly successful provisions, processes and interventions across our settings, offering flexible, personalised packages to support the specific needs of our pupils. Our provisions all understand the needs of every child and provide them with the conditions they need to be happy and proud of their success.

Our provisions are successful because of the outstanding staff team, who are committed to working with young people with additional needs and have the expertise, skills and knowledge to really make a difference. We know that getting the right people makes all the difference for children and their families.

Riverview firmly believes every child should have access to the right provision and support and, as such, we are currently advertising for an LSA who will support in our enhanced provision KS3 pathways- Discover and The Bridge, which support pupils in year 7 and 8 who need additional nurture support and support for communication and interaction, social and emotional, and preparation for adulthood skills. These pupils can also find the KS3 curriculum challenging and need additional scaffolding, to be able to access curriculum topics and to make academic progress.

Ideally, the successful candidate will therefore have experience of supporting children with additional needs, particularly communication and interaction needs and those with neurodiverse diagnosis, and will be able to adapt their practice appropriately to meet the range of ways that these needs can present themselves. Experience in the delivery of SALT, social skills and/or emotional regulation interventions would further support this role.

We are also looking for someone who shares our vision for high quality support and is flexible, dynamic and innovative in achieving the very best care, support and curriculum for our children.

We want someone who is ambitious not just for the children but for themselves. This post could lead onto a place on our teacher training programme or another promoted post as part of our expansion plans.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting individuals or groups of students to access the curriculum.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to create outstanding learning opportunities.
  • Delivering 1:1 or group targeted interventions.
  • Communicating student progress in relation to their own personalised support plans.
  • Supervising pupils during breaks, lunchtimes and extra-curricular activities.
  • Working closely with colleagues to promote pupil independence, preparing pupils for further education and adult responsibilities/ employment.

The following qualifications and experience are essential:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above.
  • Experience of working with students with additional needs, preferably within a secondary school.
  • Knowledge of neurodiverse needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia, and how these can be supported.
  • Knowledge and awareness of KS2 education/ curriculum.
  • Knowledge of how students learn and how additional needs might impact this.
  • An understanding of how to adapt/ scaffold learning to support additional learning needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies which promote good behaviour and discipline

Baysgarth School is an 11-16 comprehensive with over 1,000 students on roll. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate pride, passion and positivity and a desire to ensure the school has the highest possible reputation in the local community and beyond.

If you are inspired by the challenge of this opportunity, we would like to hear from you. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the post, please feel free to contact the Strategic SENCO for Riverview, Dr Emma Rice-Adams emma.rice@baysgarthschool.co.uk

As an employer, we promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect the same commitment from existing and prospective employees or volunteers. Recruitment to this post will follow our safer recruitment procedure which includes us requesting references prior to interview and a DBS check.
